Demand an investigation into evicore's denials for profit on behalf of Insurers as a Public Health Issue
Hi, I'm Kay, a 45 year old Metastatic Breast Cancer patient who was first diagnosed in 2015 with invasive ductal breast cancer. I was diagnosed again with stage 4 Breast Cancer, otherwise known as Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2018 and living with the terminal disease since then.
Under my employer, I have Cigna Healthcare which hires evicore to help manage the administration of claims from their insurees. evicore has denied my prior authorization for a routine PET CT scan of my total body even though it is considered ROUTINE and necessary part of a treatment plan by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Journal of Medicine to name a few. The Medical Director, has insisted that I am no longer eligible for PET CTs despite global oncological standards of care for Metastatic Breast Cancer. I am alive only because I have had regular PET scans to track the movement of cancer in my body and now evicore is denying basic medical recommendations for profit. This type of unethical and irresponsible denial as a precedent will result in the deaths of women who face this terrible disease - especially horrific to experience during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
I have asked my company to step in and resolved it. However, the fight I've had to get my scans covered as well as standard of care medical treatment for cancer over the last few years has elevated this denial as cost control by insurers, with the effect of deaths and adverse outcomes for many Americans.
For every denial of a claim, evicore makes a cut off of the savings from the insurers who hire them, which highlights that our HEALTH is used for insurers and evicore to make money at the expense of our health. evicore is incentivized to deny claims, even if it causes adverse effects or even death.

The underlying issue is that insurers such as Cigna will use evicore to bolster their profits and we, as American citizens must demand an end to this health care crisis brought on by profit hungry, immoral companies like evicore. Let's demand our government to investigate evicore and insurance companies to ensure that Americans get the proper coverage that they pay for, and not die at the hands of greedy corporations who refuse to cover medical treatment that we pay for.
