On May 24 the President of Weston FC announced that due to poor field conditions and lack of fields, the City of Weston and the Weston Sports Alliance reduced the size of field space and mandate to reduce the size of the travel soccer program. This was an easy task taken behind someone's desk at the city administration. We, the signing parents, could not see any city representative during the long week of the Weston FC tryouts, where day after day around 800 children came in to show to the training coaches their skills and talents, trying their souls out to make a spot in one of the teams of the prestigious local soccer club; however the spots were limited to about 200 by mandate of the City.
The city administration should have made a field survey to each Weston home affected by this decision, and count the HUNDREDS of children right now heartbroken and still with swollen-red eyes for being kicked out from the club they belonged to, where they not only exercise physically, but also mentally and emotionally. For these children soccer is not a simple physical activity or a sport, it is their passion and their religion.
We the citizens of Weston, Soccer Moms and Dads of Weston declare that one single brokenhearted child in Weston is too many to stand, and demand from the City of Weston the expansion of the soccer fields at Vista Park in the still available space where 2 more fields could easily be built.
Sirs at the City of Weston, please do whatever is necessary to reestablish the faith and joy to the Weston's children, soccer players, by building these 2 additional soccer fields. Please note that by doing this you are not only promoting the healthy lifestyle of your community, but most important you are to re-build the trust and the hearts of our children.
Afterall our children are the future and our most valuable treasure. We work our hearts out to provide the best to them, for this reason we choose this City, well recognized to be family oriented, we sacrifice our lives for them and pay high taxes for them to be in this environment. Most of us the signers are parents and as such we will always remember who harmed our children, and those whose protect and defend them. Several of us do not compromise our principles and political thoughts.
