Crisis in the Horn of Africa: Help Stop the Starvation
On July 20th, The UN formally declared a famine in parts of Somalia--for the first time in nearly 20 years. It's a frightening term, but the reality is even worse: More than 13 million people are desperately in need of food, clean water and basic sanitation.
Despite the urgency of the situation, most world leaders are responding too slowly. Immediate aid is essential. Yet at the same time we must not let them drop the ball on long term solutions as has too often happened in the past.
We can help those in the greatest need, and work together towards long term solutions, but our leaders need to know how important immediate action is.
Call on governments to save millions of lives in the Horn of Africa - today and tomorrow.
Dear [World Leaders]:
Please urgently provide the full funding that the UN has identified as necessary to help people in the Horn of Africa, and please keep your promises to deliver the long term solutions which could prevent crises like this happening again.
