Pledge to Help Kids Connect With Nature
Too often these days "play time" has turned into "screen time." Between TV, computers and video games, more and more often children spend their free time indoors, instead of actively playing and interacting with nature.
In a world filled with so many distractions and pulls on our time, it's more important than ever to make interacting with nature a priority – for ourselves, and for the children in our lives.
The decrease in outdoor playtime is worrying for many reasons. Children who don't engage in enough active play face increased risk of childhood obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and asthma.
Even beyond the health risks, spending time with nature is vital for kids to learn about the world we live in. After all, if our children grow up disconnected from nature, how will they ever learn to nuture and protect our environment?
Take action today: Pledge to spend one extra hour a week with the kids in your life outside, exploring nature!
