Living organ donation is critical in the fight against kidney disease

Kidney disease is one of the top 10 causes of death. Every day, we lose 13 kidney disease community members waiting for a kidney transplant.

1 in 7 Americans have kidney disease. There are millions more at risk.

Those who live with this isolating illness can tell you how it touches every area of their lives: from their physical and mental health to their jobs and relationships.

If you have have end state renal disease, you will need to have dialysis treatments for the rest of your life, unless you are able to get a kidney transplant. On average, living kidney donor transplants last 15 to 20 years. That's why American Kidney Fund is working in your state to increase the number of potential living kidney donations to help the thousands of people waiting for a life saving transplant.

We will be introducing legislation for increasing living organ donation and helping kidney disease patients in your state live longer, healthier lives.

As we move into the 2025 legislative session, please sign our petition to send a message to your state Senator and Representative that living organ donation is critical in the fight against kidney disease.
