She Locked 10 Dogs in a Stifling Trailer During a Heat Wave

It's dark inside the cramped space, but the conditions just keep getting hotter and hotter. Quickly, it becomes impossible to breathe. The oppressive summer sun keeps permeating the walls. The air is stifling. There isn't any water, and certainly no ventilation.

And 10 dogs were locked inside these conditions, abandoned inside a pull-trailer that was obstructing traffic.

Right now, a deadly heat wave is racing through the United States, and one of the states most affected is Arizona, where the outside temperatures can soar past 110 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Even on a relatively "cooler" day when the outside air is 80 degrees, inside a vehicle, the temperature can climb to 109 Fahrenheit in just 20 minutes.

Yet a woman locked 10 dogs - nine of them her own, and one belonging to someone else - in a trailer and left them there to bake in the summer scorch. By the time they were rescued, the animals were on the verge of death.

Authorities discovered the pups after a passerby called because the trailer was parked in such a way that surrounding traffic couldn't safely avoid it. They have since charged the woman with 40 counts of animal cruelty.

But the most important thing is that we must keep future animals safe by preventing her from living with, owning, or working with animals again. Sign the petition if you agree!
