- WHY YOU ARE SIGNING
-ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF T IN THE PARK
-AND/OR WHAT YOU WANT TO HAPPEN NEXT WITH T IN THE PARK... (AGE RESTRICTIONS 18 OR 21? IMPROVED SECURITY? SCRAP IT ALL TOGETHER?)
Following the deaths of two 17 year old adolescents at T in the Park 2016 in Scotland, loved ones of the teens had their worlds tore apart.
A death is always traumatising for loved ones, however Teenagers are often more subject to peer pressure and the need to fit into the social norms often by following examples of those who seem older and wiser.
Parents, families and friends of these teens worlds have been torn apart, looking back at what was suppose to be a fun time with friends. Let this not be an option for parents to have to face, take this option away for under 18/21s.
Parents may not always be aware of today's pressures on minors, and should have faith in festival organisers to set an appropriate restriction, festivals should help parents to be aware of these dangers and pressures of today, by RAISING THE AGE RESTRICTION.
AIM IS 21 lets at least get an 18 year old restrictions and to RAISE AWARENESS TO PARENTS AND FESTIVAL GOERS.
do you have any reason not to sign?
Festival organiser: Geoff Ellis,
Following the deaths of two 17 year old adolescents at your festival T in the Park, loved ones of the teens worlds were tore apart as nothing will ever be the same for them again. I personally was a freind of Megan as she was the bestfriend of my little sister. Her group of friends are suffering so much greif at such a young age and seriously struggling with the ability to face their everyday lives without the bubbly loving girl who made everyday full of laughter for them. Megans Father stated on the petition "My beautiful 17 yr old daughter tragically lost her life at one of these understaffed events that have proven to be dangerous for younger children raise the age limit and have the correct staff to cope" - Chris Bell.
A death is always traumatising for loved ones, however teenagers are often more subject to peer pressure and the need to fit into the social norms often by following examples of those who seem older and wiser. Samantha Jeffries (a supporter of the petition) wrote "Due to huge social peer pressure the age should be placed at 21 unless accompanied by adults over 25, then hopefully there will be no more innocent children dying, drink, drugs or whatever it is if they arnt there they can't die, surely a life is worth more than profit!!!!" another supporter wrote "No monitoring of alcohol consumption and freely accessible drugs young people go from full supervision to a free for all. Too much peer group pressure to go and many young people not life experienced enough." - Monica Jackson.
Parents, families and friends of these teens worlds have been torn apart, looking back at what was suppose to be a fun time with friends. Let this not be an option for parents to have to face, take this option away for under 18/21s.
Parents may not always be aware of today's pressures on minors, and should have faith in you as the festival organisers to set an appropriate restriction and put into place effective security measures to protect those paying so much to attend your festival.
However that does not seem to be the case! As it has been made very clear in statements of those who have had personal experiences of the festival itself...
