Despite requests from animal activists and concerned members, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) recently issued permits enabling the Suarez Bros. Circus to import into Puerto Rico, seven wild caught and captive born Polar Bears.

The circus transports the polar bears, nomadic arctic animals, in small cages and makes them perform in hot, humid regions in Mexico, Central America and South America. Witnesses report that the bears are clearly miserable from being kept in cramped cages and are suffering the ill effects of unrelenting heat.

These animals are forced to go through a routine of sitting on small podiums, climbing a ladder, going down a slide, and walking upright while being poked, prodded and whacked by a trainer using a sharpened stick. Rangers report that the bears were kept in filthy cages with no relief from temperatures that reportedly reached 113 degrees fahrenheit!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! By signing this petition, you are expressing your disappointment in the agency that would issue such a permit allowing polar bears to be imported to Puerto Rico for use in this circus and to stop issuing permits allowing use of protected species to all circuses. This animal cruelty has got to stop!

Sincerely,
The Undersigned
