U.S. Senate: Time Is Running Out for Climate!
- by: 1Sky
- recipient: U.S. Senate
Citizens across the U.S. and around the world had long hoped that the United Nations climate talks in Copenhagen would result in a fair, ambitious and binding global treaty to reduce global warming pollution. But, the U.S. Senate's failure to pass a strong climate bill in 2009 presented a significant roadblock to any progress in Copenhagen.
Every day the U.S. Senate delays puts our entire planet at risk and undermines the U.S.'s negotiating position and competitive edge in the clean energy race. Already we have squandered a great opportunity in Copenhagen. The world and the American people cannot afford to wait any longer.
Tell your senators to step up and pass a strong clean energy bill that will stop dangerous global warming pollution and create economic opportunities for everyone!
Dear [Decision Maker],
The U.S. Senate must step up their leadership on climate as soon as possible in 2010. The recent discussions at the U.N. Climate Talks in Copenhagen talks failed to produce the substantive outcomes the world desperately needs. Your leadership in the Senate in 2010 can ensure that we enact bold climate solutions, both domestically and internationally.

2010 is our absolute deadline to get a fair, ambitious, and binding climate treaty. Already we have squandered a great opportunity in Copenhagen in 2009. The world and the American people can't afford to wait any longer.
The science calls for much more urgent action than what we've seen to date. Please keep climate on the legislative roadmap and support a strong clean energy bill that will stop dangerous global warming pollution and create economic opportunities for a clean energy transition.
