We respectfully ask that The Strong/National Museum of Play, Rochester, NY expedite its publishing of what is believed to be the most comprehensive collection of Playthings Magazine, the preeminent trade journal for the toy manufacturing and marketing industry since its inception in 1910.

Acquired by The Museum's Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play in 2010, the collection represents an unparalleled resource for vintage toy researchers worldwide to explore, learn from, and add to the body of knowledge crucial to our understanding of cultural norms as well as documenting design and vocational patterns, natural resources use and more.

Traveling to view the non-profits hard copy collection is prohibitive for many in terms of time and expense, and individual requests for information from the magazine will not be available until a database is created.

Interest and enthusiasm for collecting, researching and disseminating information about our wonderful heritage of vintage playthings is at an all-time high. Please help us by prioritizing the online availability of this most important collection for public use.

Thank you,

The Undersigned
