Do you think that the Canadian government should tell Canada's scientists what they can and can not say? Do you want your government limiting the type of scientific information that Canadians are allowed to hear? That's exactly what's been happening in our country.
The University of Victoria's Environmental Law Centre filed a 133 page complaint outlining the extent of the issue. Muzzling scientists in Canada is a problem, and the Canadian public deserves to know why this is happening.
The federal government has been preventing the media and the public from reaching out to government scientists for news stories - especially when the research and points of view are contrary to that of the government.
Environmental protection, oil sands development, and climate change are important issues that Canadians deserve information on. Sign below to support the inquest into this inappropriate behavior by our Canadian government.
Dear Prime Minister Stephen Harper,
We the undersigned support the inquest into the muzzling of Canadian scientists by your Conservative government.
The fact that you have prevented scientists from speaking with the public or the media about issues that effect Canadians is dishonorable and we are shocked that it has been allowed to happen.
We demand that this inquest will be conducted in a fair and just way. Canadians will hold you and your government accountable.
Sincerly,
Concerned Canadians
