Stop Global Warming with “Blooming” Infrastructure

Texas is the second largest state in terms of population, with over 29 million people. With this inflated amount of populace comes the surge of affordable housing, alongside increase of roadways and increase of gas emissions through cars, travel, etc. The more toxic fumes that linger in the air, the more prone we are to not being able to prosper.

An efficient solution that would both aid the growth of communities and be habitable towards air cleansing would be if we were to somehow inhabit something natural into something that has already been implemented in the standard neighborhood. The solution to this would be green stormwater infrastructure, such as detention basins, curbside bioswales, and green roofs. This would be a habitable solution due to its cleansing properties in both air and water quality, since the new infrastructures will opt out for filters that could transmit things such as lead poisoning. Alongside this, in order to ensure that the flora stays, we can introduce regenerative botany into these structures in order to ensure that there is enough to counter both air and water pollution.

It is critical to take action by today because if not, our climate clock will start ticking faster and faster, leading to our inevitable doom.
