Keep Shepton Mallet prison out of the hands of developers

Shepton Mallet prison (hmp cornhill) was Britain’s oldest prison when it closed its doors for the final time in 2013
It 1st opened in 1610 and has had the likes of the Krays through the doors over the years.
During the war it housed world famous documents such as the doomsday book and rumoured that the Crown Jewels themselfs were kept there for safe keeping.
At present it is being run as a visitor centre by a company called jailhouse tours, who run guided tours where they tell you about the history of the prison and about the many executions that have taken place there throughout the years and the spirits who still roam the cold dark corridors until this day.
Planning permission has been granted to transform the building into flats.
I believe that because of the history of this fantastic building it should remain as it is and run as a museum, telling its story to younger generations for years to come
