Save K-9 officer Ajax from being auctioned to the highest bidder!

After 3 years of working with his partner every day, Officer Matt Hickey retired and wants to retire his K-9 officer Ajax with him as well.

He offered the city their estimated value of the dog ($3500) to take Ajax home with him to enjoy family and retirement and was denied.

Even more outrageous, K-9 officer Ajax will be auctioned off to the highest bidder instead of being able to go home with his partner. The city says they need to treat the dog like a surplus shovel!!!

Ajax had served our community without regards for himself and has given his all to make our streets safer. K-9 officer Ajax should be able to retire with his handler and not ripped from his family to make a couple of bucks!

Tell the City Council President and the Chief of Police that Ajax deserves to retire with his partner! See the news story here.
Please take action immediately to ensure that Ajax is able to retire with his partner, officer Matt Hickey.
Update #28 years ago
We did it! Per a live press conference today officer Hickey will be able to keep K9 Ajax for $1.00. That means the rest of the funds will go to Vested Interest K9 for safety vests for other K9 officers in the line of duty! Thank you to everyone who has supported our cause! A special thanks to Corey Orr for his huge part in keeping this family together!

UPDATE: Marietta city leaders say they'll let Officer Hickey keep Ajax ONLY if he agrees to work for the police department as an auxiliary officer. Please keep sharing the petition to tell the city to let Hickey retire and keep Ajax, no strings attached! Click here to share on FB
