Beavers provide a wide array of important benefits to human and wild communities that are lost when they are removed from the landscape. Stopping hunting and trapping of beaver is the only mortality factor that we can control to help recover their populations.
These benefits include: carbon sequestration through wetland expansion, fish and wildlife habitat, water filtration and storage, drinking water improvements and security, flood mitigation, and natural firebreaks.
Join with 250 non-profit organizations, scientists and advocates who submitted a letter to the president asking for an executive order protecting beaver on public lands.
A state-by-state approach to beaver protection has failed and it is time to ask the President to take action as a matter of national security.
