A rancher near Salt Lake City was walking with another along his property when they suddenly discovered
something grim: upwards of 40 dead sheep piled near the edge of his property, on his neighbor's land.
It looked to them like a "field of carcasses." The dead included dozens of baby lambs.
Warning: the following descriptions include graphic and disturbing content.Sign the petition to demand justice for these poor dead animals!According to the rancher, his neighbor had a history of neglecting and mistreating his animals - including starving them, refusing to vaccinate them, and otherwise wilfully neglecting them to death.
The sheep had become so desperately hungry for anything at all that they'd begun to
eat the wool off their fellow animals. The rancher saw one animal who had been so badly chewed on by its kin, almost all of its wool was gone from its body. As the sheep fell from malnutrition, their bodies simply piled up in the field, beginning to openly rot. Clearly no one had attempted to clean up the putrid, decomposing remains.
Taking pity on the poor creatures, the rancher brought some alfalfa for them and tossed it into the pen where they were trapped. Famished, the animals began tearing at each other in their feverish attempts to claim any food. "It made me sick," the rancher said. "I've told this guy to get his sheep vaccinated. I've told him they've got worms and he just kept ignoring it."
Some of the dead sheep had visible maggots wriggling in them. Yet the rancher worries that hasn't stopped his neighbor from selling this contaminated meat to others in a local store.
The two men have since reported this mistreatment to the authorities, but it's clear something needs to be done fast -- these sheep are starving and dying off in real time! This sheep-owning neighbor clearly cannot be trusted with caring for the wellbeing of others.
Officials must intervene quickly to remove all remaining animals from this negligent person's property, and ban him from ever owning livestock, pets, or other animals again! Sign the petition to add your name to this call.
