Every dog deserves food, water, shelter, vet care and love... Scooby had NONE of these things.
If this case goes to trial, this petition will help the DA prosecute Joseph Sekelsky to the fullest extent. Petitions displaying public outrage have also been known to sway a judge toward maximium sentencing in cruelty cases - that is our hope!

We the undersigned respectfully request your consideration of the animal cruelty case against Joseph Sekelsky and if convicted, urge you to sentence him to the fullest extent the law will allow.
After a year of complaints by neighbors, Joseph Sekelsky, a resident of Duryea, PA, was charged with cruelty after his dog Scooby, a severely ill and malnourished 7 year old was removed from his property and a warrant was issued by the Luzerne County SPCA. The dog is presently in the possession of this SPCA, which has confirmed that acting upon tips from concerned citizens, it investigated and found the dog extremely emaciated, living outside tied on a short lead with no shelter and usually without food or water. Scooby has gained approximately 16 pounds while under the SPCA's care, and his extreme case of whipworm has been treated. It is our conviction that this dog would surely have died soon without intervention. We are requesting that he does not get sent back to this terrible situation and that the owner Joseph Sekelsky is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for cruelty and neglect.
