World Athletics, the international governing agency for sports, has announced a new ridiculous (and invasive) rule that bans all female transgender athletes who have been through "male puberty" from competing in female world ranking track and field competitions. It's a ludicrous move that singles out an already severely unprotected group of athletes, and gives into the conspiratorial vitriol Republicans spew on a daily basis.
Rules regarding hormone therapy have already been in place throughout the sports world to ensure fairness, this new rule only works to exclude dedicated athletes who are being targeted by bigots.

Instead of discriminating against female trans athletes, World Athletics should work to address the countless ACTUAL issues that plague women's sports, such as lack of and inequitable resources, unequal pay, sexual abuse and harrassment, the list goes on… Their lack of attention to actual needs only highlight the truth of the matter — they don't care about female athletes, they care about saving face in the heat of adversity.
To add insult to injury, there aren't even any transgender women currently competing at an international level who would be affected by this ban, nor do they have any evidence to back the rule. It's just another baseless attack on the transgender community.
