Speak Up for school choice, quality education, and diversity in JCPS!

School choice, rigorous learning environments, and school diversity would be adversely affected if Manual is changed to a lottery entrance OR if the admissions process is moved to JCPS central office. The JCPS Board needs to hear from taxpayers, parents, students, and other community stakeholders.  Please sign and share today!

Maintaining school choice as an option for highly motivated students in JCPS is critically important. Manual is one of the JCPS schools that has a motivated, diverse, well-rounded population that is empowered by the student body, their parents, teachers, and administrators to consistently achieve high scores, national merit scholarship, and college readiness. Students switch from private schools to public precisely because of the selectivity and rigor that Manual 's current admissions process allows. Therefore, as taxpayers and stakeholders, we urge you to follow the MSA recommendation of "polishing the jewel" that is Manual: keep the highly functioning admissions process at Manual; allow its administrators to publish the selection criteria that it has already submitted to central office; and maintain Manual as a selective admissions school, not a lottery, which would damage not only the academic reputation of our city, county, and state, but also JCPS' ability to retain the best and brightest students.
