Give final and full approval of CARE Animal Shelter in Coalgate, OK
Coalgate Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.), a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is building an animal shelter at 17158 Industrial Blvd. Coalgate, OK 74538 on land provided by the city of Coalgate, Oklahoma.
The privately-funded shelter will benefit the community of Coalgate by reducing the homeless pet overpopulation crisis. This goal will be accomplished by 1) providing temporary shelter for stray animals and arranging for transport to animal rescues located out of state and 2) hosting low-cost spay/neuter clinics to support responsible pet ownership.
The building plans for the shelter were designed by an architect specifically for small communities and provided at no charge by the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals. The shelter will be completely fenced with six foot chain link fencing. The shelter complies in full with Department of Environmental Quality requirements and the land is not contaminated. No toxins or waste has ever been dumped on the section of land where the shelter is being built.
We strongly encourage the City Council members of Coalgate to give their full support and final approval to this animal shelter. We applaud C.A.R.E. for this effort and commend them on promoting responsible pet ownership.
