To Support Tzvi's Place
The house on E. 2nd Ave at 1823 has become a home that is an essential part of the community of East Vancouver. Owner Tzvi Tal has created an oasis, a gathering place for people to come together and celebrate and share food and stories and be part of a community. There have been many studies in recent years that suggest that one of the most important ingredients to a healthy and happy life is being part of a community, the feeling of belonging to something greater than oneself.
Over the years, there has been a continuous effort to improve the house on all levels, replacing old and unsafe wiring, changing old and leaking pipes and installing a more efficient heating system to conserve energy. Recently, there has been an effort to improve the upper level by adding windows/skylights and a balcony in order to create proper ventilation and a safe fire exit. The love that Tzvi has put into the home and the community that has evolved through that process is evident in the gatherings around the deck, the pond and garden in the back. He has created a home that provides affordable accommodation for artists that is sustainable and environmentally friendly. In addition to 9 years of service providing a warm home for foster children in need. In most societies around the world the work that Tzvi has done would be heralded and recognized as a great achievement, rather than being discarded as not conforming to strict by-laws.
We, the undersigned, would urge you to strongly consider the positive effect that this home has on the people in it and around it and all those that have come in contact with it before you rush to order changes.
