Compulsory labeling of palm oil
Palm oil plantations kill around 50 orangutans per week, and their reproduction rate is only 1 baby every 7 years!
At the moment, palm oil can be labeled as 'vegetable oil' in products, but us, as the public would like to be able to make informative choices. And as well as killing many critically endangered animals, palm oil is also terrible for our health!

We, as consumers, would like to be able to have the right to make informative choices when purchasing goods, as 'vegetable oil' could be one of many types of oils, most of which are not so destructive.
It is compulsory in cosmetics to be labeled, but even then, it can be labeled as a number of diferent scientific names and this can be very confusing!
Although Palm oil is more often than not sustainable palm oil, it is still of concern of the land of which we are using for these cash crops. This is why it, among other things, needs to be labeled. I believe it is in the country's best interest, for our health, for the planet, and for the animals.
It isn't a very big ask, but it could make a very big impact on the survival of all of these beautiful creatures.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
