On Eagles Wings Ministries is a women's ministry in Western North Carolina. Currently we have a campaign called GOAL 15,000. We are hoping we will be able to reach 15,000 people and get 15,000 signatures in efforts to raise awareness about sex trafficking and what is taking place in the United States. FACTS ABOUT SEX TRAFFICKING IN THE U.S.

12 years old is the average age entry into pornography and prostitution.
   
In recent months, six cases of human trafficking were prosecuted in North Carolina and one in North Georgia. According to the FBI, roughly 23 percent of people trafficked into the U.S. arrive in the Southeast.

100,000 to 300,000 children in America are at risk for sex trafficking each year.

Human trafficking is the world's third largest criminal enterprise, after the trafficking of drugs and weapons. The United States Department of State estimates between 14,500 and 17,500 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year and half of them are children.

In the U.S. , the sale of child pornography is a $3 billion annual industry; 55% of child pornography on the Internet comes from the U.S.

Over 400 prostituted children were identified on the streets of Las Vegas in May 2007 alone.

Unlike a drug that is gone once it is used, victims have been reported to being used 30-40 times a night for as little as $30.

Cities such as Atlanta, Las Vegas, Boston, Charlotte, Tampa, Dallas, New Orleans, Buffalo, Kansas City (and many more) are finding that sex trafficking is a problem that needs attention.

Traffickers use coercive tactics including deception, fraud, intimidation, isolation, threat, physical force, debt bondage and even force feeding drugs to control their victims. One girl in Atlanta reported that she was kept in a dog crate for 30 days as abusers tried to break her down emotionally. Pimps and traffickers also threaten to kill a victim's family if they try to run.
