Tell Gov. Landry "Don’t Politicize the Coast and our Future"

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry is threatening the state's keystone restoration project, the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion (MBSD)--a science-based solution designed to rebuild wetlands, protect communities, and restore the Barataria Basin's collapsing ecosystem. The MBSD has undergone decades of expert scientific analysis, transparent community engagement and has received overwhelming public support.

It's the most studied and essential project in Louisiana's world-class Coastal Master Plan. But Governor Landry is putting politics over science, undermining decades of progress and risking Louisiana's future.

Governor Landry is seeking to overrule almost a decade of transparent community and stakeholder engagement and careful expert analysis in favor of a "so-called" compromise project his administration is developing behind closed doors. Each and every alternative project scenario was ultimately ruled out because they were less beneficial, failing to address the root causes of the rapid land loss and alarming ecosystem collapse in the Barataria Basin.

The overwhelming public support for Mid-Barataria hasn't changed. The need for Mid-Barataria has only become more urgent. Only the politics has changed - and that is deeply concerning for Louisiana's future.

It's time to step up to protect Louisiana's coast. Tell the Governor you support the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion.
