1 in 3 of us will develop dementia. Only research has the power to change this.
2023 saw huge progress in dementia research, with the unveiling of the first new disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimer's disease we have seen in decades, lecanemab and donanemab.
Research doesn't just unlock progress, it unlocks hope. Hope for effective treatments, improved care, and, one day, a cure. But progress requires investment.
In 2022, Government promised to double dementia research funding by 2024/25. Part of this funding is due to come from the delivery of the Government's Dementia Mission - a plan to boost the number of clinical trials and innovative research projects through a £95 million investment.
This commitment is vital, but it's now 2024 and we're still waiting. Government's promise must be turned into action.
Will you stand with us and call on the Government to honour its commitments to increase vital funding? Together we can make dementia research a priority.
