Help Older Adults in New York City Remain Together With Their Pets
Pets are family and provide companionship and unconditional love.
We envision a society that places the emotional, physical, and social benefits of the human-animal bond at the forefront. Physical and financial obstacles should never threaten to separate us from our animal companions. PAWS NY is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to keeping pets in their homes and out of the shelter, with a focus on helping older adults and individuals living with illness or disability. Our motto is helping people by helping pets, and we fulfill our mission through a variety of programs including, but not limited to, our signature Housecall Program.
Through our Housecall Program, volunteers provide on-site visits to clients, where they help with dog walking, litter box maintenance, medication administration, and more. Our amazing volunteers are currently making 320 weekly visits to our clients, and we have a goal of facilitating more than 20,000 visits over the next year. Clients also receive support through our Veterinary Care Program, through which we offer transport and cover the cost of medical care, and our Pet Pantry, through which pet food and supplies are donated to clients. Additionally, our Foster and Emergency Care Program ensures our clients have access to pet care when they are hospitalized or experiencing a medical crisis, so that their pet is cared for in their absence.
PAWS NY can't do this vital work without support from people like you. We need your help to keep pets in their homes while protecting and promoting the human-animal bond that can truly be life-saving.
