Nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most common type of cancer in the United States.
- More people are diagnosed with these cancers each year than all other cancers combined.
- 9,500 people are diagnosed every day.
- 1 in 5 Americans will face this disease in their lifetime and the numbers are rising.
Here's the shocking truth:
Proven, safe, and effective treatments for NMSC exist and doctors are NOT telling you about them.
This is WRONG. Patients are being kept in the dark, forced into unwanted surgeries, and denied their right to make an informed choice. It's about to get worse. RIGHT NOW, organized efforts are underway to restrict your access to these treatments!
ENOUGH.
- Doctors MUST inform patients of ALL available treatments.
- Insurance MUST cover every approved option.
- Patients MUST have the right to decide which treatment is best for them.
We are patients, caregivers, and families. We will not be silenced. We demand change NOW.
If you believe in access to every approved treatment option, transparency from doctors, and full insurance coverage, stand with us.

Dear [Representative/Senator],
As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to take action on an issue that affects millions of Americans: access to proven treatments for nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC).
NMSC is the most common cancer in the United States, with over 5.4 million cases treated in 2012 alone. Since then, the numbers have only grown, but no one is keeping track. At least 1 in 5 Americans will face NMSC in their lifetime, and more than 9,500 people are diagnosed with it every day. This is not someone else's problem—it's all of ours.
Proven and effective nonsurgical radiation therapies for NMSC exist, yet many patients are never informed about these options. Shockingly, organized efforts are underway to restrict access to these nonsurgical treatments even further. Patients are being left in the dark and denied the information they need to make fully informed decisions about their care.
This must change.
As a policymaker, you have the power to put patients first. Here's what needs to happen:
- Ensure transparency and choice: Mandate that all patients are informed of all proven treatment options, regardless of what individual practices offer. Patients deserve to make decisions about their care based on complete information.
- Guarantee coverage for all proven treatments: Prohibit insurance companies, Medicare, and MACs from denying access to effective therapies. Patients' health decisions should not be limited by coverage exclusions. Insurance companies can negotiate prices, but patients must retain the right to choose their treatment.
- Stop enabling restrictive practices: End contracts with medical associations that prioritize preserving the status quo and member income over patient care. These associations often block new treatments through the CPT and financial reimbursement code process, hindering innovation and access.
True access means being fully informed, fully covered, and fully prioritized. Our current system fails on all three fronts.
While today's fight is for access to radiation therapies for NMSC, tomorrow it will be a battle for life-saving care in another field. These systemic injustices harm patients, caregivers, and the integrity of our healthcare system as a whole.
I urge you to stand with patients and support legislation and policies that prioritize transparency, expand access to care, and put the health and well-being of Americans first. I look forward to collaborating with you to ensure access to all available treatments for patients with nonmelanoma skin cancers.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
