More weapons and war aren’t the way. It's time to cut the Pentagon budget!
For decades, the U.S. government has spent more on weapons and war than any other country on earth — and it didn't make anyone, anywhere, any safer. It's time to rethink this broken approach.
The trillions we've spent on weapons and war over the past 20 years didn't build peace in the Middle East, fund a cure for cancer, or combat the climate crisis. Instead of creating a world where people across the globe are safe, we've made a few people incredibly rich by making and buying more bombs that kill and drive instability and insecurity.
Real security lies in robust healthcare, an educational system that teaches the next generation, and diplomacy that creates a more stable and conflict-free world. These should be the pillars of a truly safe and prosperous society in the 21st century — not increasing Raytheon's profit margins.
Last year, the U.S. government prioritized weapons and war to the tune of a whopping $886.4 BILLION — HALF of that astronomical amount is slated to flow directly to weapons contractors like Raytheon.
This year, we could pour even more bombs and bullets into a world where violence is increasing by the second. This is your chance to speak up and demand something different.
Budgets are moral documents that should reflect our values and priorities. Let's imagine what cutting the Pentagon budget allows us to do. With the stroke of a pen, the President could free up resources to invest in our communities, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for people worldwide. Activists like us can lead the way in pushing him to building that future.

To President Biden:
We're witnessing the catastrophic fallout of a military-first approach: endless wars, global instability, and blatant neglect of pressing domestic issues. It's a cycle of destruction, not defense. I urge you to cut funding for the Pentagon budget in the President's Budget for Fiscal Year 2025.
Signed,
