Many Georgia patients, particularly those living with chronic conditions, need consistent and reliable access to the treatments and care prescribed by their health care provider to manage symptoms, control their illness, and lead healthier lives.
However, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), or middlemen who work between health insurers and drug manufacturers to negotiate prescription drug prices, continue blocking access to lifesaving health care for many Georgia patients. On behalf of the health insurance plans they represent, PBMs receive significant rebates and discounts from pharmaceutical companies for the cost of medications and treatments, but they don't pass those savings on to the patients who need the treatments, causing Georgians to pay more out of their own pockets.
Fortunately, Georgia lawmakers have introduced House Bill 100 (HB 100), which would require PBMs to pass a minimum of 80% of negotiated rebates directly to patients.
Act now: Tell GA lawmakers to ensure PBM savings are shared with patients
Send a letter to your legislators today urging them to support HB 100 and improve health care access in Georgia!
Dear [LAWMAKER NAME],
As your constituent, I urge you to ensure Georgia patients can access the treatments they need when they need it by supporting House Bill 100 (HB 100), legislation that will reform harmful pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) practices that are blocking access to care.
Georgia patients rely on the medications to manage symptoms, control their illness, and lead healthy lives. However, health industry middlemen known as PBMs, who work between drug manufacturers and health insurance plans that they're hired to represent, are putting necessary treatments out of reach for many patients. PBMs receive significant rebates and discounts from pharmaceutical companies for the cost of medications and treatments, but they don't pass those savings on to patients receiving the care, forcing Georgians to pay more out of pocket for the care they need.
HB 100 would require PBMs to pass a minimum of 80% of negotiated savings on to Georgia patients at the pharmacy counter. It is critical that you support this legislation and ensure that patients are receiving negotiated discounts - not for-profit corporations. Georgia patients and families are counting on you. Please support HB 100.
