Demand an End to Cruel “Wild Cow Milking” Event

Rowell Ranch Rodeo in Alameda County is at it again with a cruel rodeo event called "wild cow milking." Terrified mother cows are set loose in an arena where cowboys violently rope them, hold them down, and forcibly milk them. Their vulnerable calves are left alone, without their protection.

Your help is needed to put a stop to this awful event from happening again next year.

Being chased and violently brought to a halt by a rope around the neck is not only frightening, it's dangerous. As you can imagine, severe neck injuries are common. In 2014, the Rowell Ranch's wild cow milking event ended in tragedy when a terrified cow broke her neck and had to be euthanized

In addition to being dangerous for the animals, "wild cow milking" simply has no place in a modern, civilized society. Animals should be treated with respect, which is impossible in this rodeo event.

You can join a growing list of animal lovers who want to see cows protected, not abused. Sign the petition today to demand a stop to this dangerous, cruel event at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo.

I am writing to request an end to the cruel and needless "wild cow milking" event held at the Rowell Ranch rodeo.

Chasing vulnerable mothers in front of loud spectators is terrible and unkind. These cows are not used to being handled. They are chased throughout the arena and violently roped, choked, and flung to the ground.

You may not know, but in 2014 a cow broke her neck while being roped during this event and had to be euthanized. Neck injuries are common. Fear is unavoidable for the cow.

Let's foster kindness and respect toward animals. "Wild cow milking" has no place in a civilized, considerate society. It does not teach anything of value and instead harms a vulnerable mother cow for entertainment.

I hope that you feel the same, and will do the right thing by protecting vulnerable animals from senseless and unnecessary cruelty.
