Originally, all foie gras came from France, but now the United States
has gotten into this cruel niche industry. Next time you go into a
store or restaurant that sells foie gras, please let them know that a
product that comes from force-feeding ducks and geese is more than you
can stomach.
Two companies produce all of the domestically raised foie gras in the
United States. New York States Hudson Valley Foie Gras and
Californias Sonoma Foie Gras. Combined, they are responsible for the
torture and death of half a million ducks every year. (GC)
Here are three things that GourmetCruelty.com suggests that we share with others
and we'd like you to review this information yourself:
- Request a copy of Delicacy of Despair and show your friends, family, and co-workers what goes on behind the closed doors of foie gras factory farms.
- Educate
local restaurants and grocery stores about the animals suffering on
foie gras factory farms, and ask them to take this gourmet cruelty off
their menus and shelves. - Find out more about the exciting legislative actions that are being taken against foie gras production and what you can do to help.
We petition you to read our informational links and please take the foie gras off of Amazon.com to avoid the onset of the continued boycott of Amazon.com by many concerned customers and interested parties.
Your commitment to Co-op America is that you are "GREEN" because:
"1) its familiarity with and commitment to social and environmental responsibility, and 2) significant action in terms of this commitment. "

where you are portraying yourself as GREEN.
