Tell Ken Cuccinelli to Pay UVA Back for His Climate Science Witch Hunt
Climate change-denying Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has some serious debts to pay. He used Virginia taxpayer dollars to attack the work of climate scientist and former University of Virginia professor Michael Mann in a legal action intended to discredit his research on climate change.
In the end, Cuccinelli's witch hunt was not successful, but it did cost the University of Virginia $570,698 in legal fees to defend itself from his ridiculous attack against climate science. Not only did he waste important resources that could have been used for our students' education, he also impeded important research on climate change that could help us mitigate and prepare for the impacts of rising global temperatures.
Sign our petition telling Ken Cuccinelli to stop denying climate science and pay UVA back for his climate change witch hunt.
Dear Attorney General Cuccinelli,
We write as citizens of Virginia to tell you that your climate change denial is unacceptable. As Attorney General, you should be putting our children's future ahead of political games like the attack you made on the work of climate scientist and former University of Virginia professor Michael Mann.
We are outraged that your taxpayer-funded investigation of Professor Mann's research on climate change forced the University of Virginia to spend $570,698 to defend itself. We ask that you make amends for this shameful attack by paying back the money you cost the University of Virginia, so that they can spend it on our children's education and more research on climate change.

In a coastal state like Virginia, where climate change is causing sea level rise that makes our shoreline communities more vulnerable to major storms, we need leaders who will use science to prepare and protect their constituents, not try to prove the science wrong. If you want to lead Virginia, please show that you are committed to addressing climate change and reimburse the University of Virginia now.
Sincerely,
