Puppy farms are essentially production lines where dogs and puppies are crammed into boxes and cages, often left in the dark with little or no human interaction, and treated as mere commodities. These puppies are separated from their mothers too early, then transported long distances and sold via pet shops, dealers, online and newspaper ads, or private residences posing as the breeder.
Licenses to sell these puppies are issued by Local Government and in practice provide little to no protection for the dogs.
These puppies suffer horrendously:
- Impaired immune systems making them vulnerable to infections
- Painful diseases requiring costly treatments
- Shorter life spans
- Poor socialisation resulting in serious life-long behavioural issues
- Stress, disease, and even death during transportation
You can help end this horrific suffering right now - The solution is to ban the sale of puppies without their mothers being present, or adopt a puppy from a rescue centre instead.
