Demand a change for pet status (from possessions to companions)and hold negligent veterinarians accountable

I recently lost my pet dog after routine dental cleaning due to gross negligence .The only recourse I had was to sue for the value of my pet as pets are considered Possessions and nothing more.Since the loss of my pet I have received several messages from other pet owners whom have also lost their pets due to negligence at the same facility.If our pets were considered more than a possession veterinarians would be held to a higher standard.
