Tell Big Oil We Won't Be Bullied

Urgent: We only have days to stand up to Big Oil and protect transparency!
Right now, some of the world's biggest oil companies are fighting to keep some very big secrets.
Much of Africa is rich in resources, but in many places the money these resources generate never makes it to the people who need it most. Equatorial Guinea, for instance, is rich with oil, but more than 70% of its people live in extreme poverty.
Why? Oil companies make secret deals with African governments, enabling corrupt leaders to put billions into their own pockets.
Two years ago, a hard fought battle led to a law that ensures that oil, gas and mining companies must reveal what they pay. But now, oil company lobbyists are pressuring the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to secretly kill the best parts of the law and keep these deals hidden.
The African people deserve transparency, not Big Oil's bullying! Tell the SEC to stand up for transparency and end these closed door deals once and for all.
Dear SEC Commissioners,
Please do not give into industry pressures on Section 1504 of the Dodd-Frank Act (the Cardin-Lugar Amendment) - and make sure that ALL companies are covered, every country and every project gets reported, and loopholes that would allow large sums of money to go unreported are closed.
