On April 13th, 2012, at 5 o'clock in the morning, Sandor Guillen was drunk driving 3 times over the legal limit, speeding, driving illegally in the bus lane, and broke a red light, which resulted in his car striking Camacho Families mini-van in which Kirk Camacho (father) Bree Ann Camacho (older sister) and kaely Camacho were in, at approximately 85+ miles an hour, literally driving through and tearing apart their car. Kirk and Bree Ann made it out with a couple injuries but 13-year-old Kaely Camacho was killed. Guillen fled the scene; he failed to render aid, and failed to call for help.
After nearly 2 stressful years, while Guillen waited in the comfort of his home only on house arrest, trial had finally began February 24th 2014, and on March 3rd 2014 the verdict was found. Guillen was found guilty on all 3 charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident in the April 13, 2012 crash. Coming up this April the 13th will be marking the 2 year anniversary of her death and on the 14th a hearing to set the date in which his sentencing will be decided for just a week or a few later will be set. The MAXIMUM sentence he can receive is unfortunately ONLY 30 years. I believe if you take a life then you deserve life in prison, but unfortunately that is not the way things work. Again…unfortunately there are many cases like this one where the defendant gets away with a slap on the wrist compared to what they deserve, but it's time we start to make a difference, it's time for change, change that will not be seen unless these defendants get a long enough sentence in order to learn their lesson, in order to decrease the deaths in result of drunk driving. So join me in the fight for justice and peace for the Camacho family and the thousands of other families who have lost loved ones in the result of drunk driving all around the world by signing this petition in agreement that Sandor Guillen, a man who made a selfish decision and took the life of a child and then failed to render his aid, the FULL 3o year sentence that he deserves. Thank you.
