Cows, bulls, etc. don't want ropes around their necks, they don't want to be dragged to the ground violently by their neck, they don't want to be pulled, jumped on, shoved to the ground. ANIMALS ARE NOT TOYS.
NewZealand people love the nature of animals! But knowing there is this "sport" accuring in our country makes me shocked.
This treatment stresses the animal out, traumarises them. This entertainment flatters little more then a small group of people, but for the animals? There is no bennifit. I'm not going to say i have been to a rodeo before and seen this all for myself, but if the news can show on t.v, footage of what's really going on in the rodeo, then that is enough for me.
They also say that serious injures are 'RARE' But does this make it ok still? I highly disagree, even for an animal to be put in this kind of environment, and danger. It is NOT fair.
Waikato Rodeo in New Zealand is being investigated, but from what people have filmed their has said to be cruel treatment and should be out lawd.
It's appaled the SPCA NZ, and also Animal welfare.
Horses are in distress and their is footage of cowbows kicking a bull in a pen. If you ask me, that is hands down animal abuse and something needs to be done.
My opinion: As an animal lover, i believe no animal deserves to be pushed around shoved to the ground, kicked or pulled by the neck. They deserve as much rights as we do. Animals can't speak up for themselves, all they can do is run OR bite back but in this case, can they run? no they can't because they are stuck in a rodeo being run down by a cow boy on a horse. I understand that rodeo's are what a small majority of people dedicate to and find it fun to be a part of, and taking this away from them would make them upset, but no animal deserves any of this. And as of now, they have definately given themselves a bad name. New Zealand is an animal abuse free country! So when something like this accures, it is serious. This has to stop.

Hi there John Key,
This is a petition i have created to ban the Waikato Rodeo. Please take your time to read what i have to say, as i am speaking out for the animals that can't speak up for themselves.
As a 17 year old girl, i think strongly about animals like no other, Animals don't deserve to be treated this way, they are not a toy. And many others believe so to.

I didn't know that this was happening until I had seen this on ONE NEWS and many many people think stongly about this cause. I think Waikato Rodeo have done it for themselves.
