In a shocking case of animal cruelty and abuse of trust, two men recently murdered a dog they were supposed to be caring for. They threw her down a manhole in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, and the horrific incident was caught on video.
Kanilla was a female Pit bull/Dalmatian mix owned by a 19-year-old Jordanian student. According to the owner, "I went back to Jordan on June 24. My housemate's friend, a Somali student, offered to care for my dog Kanilla for a month." On July 19, the owner received a message claiming Kanilla had run away. When he returned on July 26, his housemate showed him a video of the Somali student and another man throwing the dog down a manhole.
This disgusting abuse has shocked Malaysia and must not be tolerated. The dog's murderers acted callously in senselessly killing a pet in their care, and showed absolutely no concern for the owner's emotions. Malaysia is known for having light animal abuse penalties, but the government has been taking action to pass stronger legislation.
