Ban the release of balloons in Mobile City/County

Thousands of balloons have to be cleaned up in our area every year. They end up on our beaches and in our waterways. They cause the slow and painful death for a number of of our local wildlife. Land animals eat or get entangled in them as well as our marine life. They create roadside litter, get caught in trees, stop up drainage and litter traps and end up in our gulf and rivers. We are petitioning the City of Mobile and Mobile County to make balloon releases unlawful in the area and enforce punishment of doing so with fines and/or community service.
