Urge the Government of Botswana to Ban Fracking in Conservation Areas

One of Africa's largest conservation areas is being threatened by mining, according to a report on Africa Geographic.com

Botswana has opened-up Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park to fracking, setting off alarm bells for conservationists around the world. Worryingly, wildlife officials had not been told the rights to frack the park had been sold-off.

Much has been reported on fracking - and how it is alleged to pollute groundwater. As a result, conservationists are concerned at how fracking will affect water sources in the park, and as a consequence, how it will affect wildlife.

Furthermore, mining in the park could devastate tourist revenue, which will in turn affect the local people.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park must be protected from fracking and any other form of mining. Will you join me in urging the Government of Botswana to protect the park on behalf of wildlife and people who live in the surrounding area?
