We are heartbroken to learn that Jon Stewart is stepping down as host of the Daily Show. Though he has earned the right to enjoy time with his family and explore new projects, we will miss his intelligence, wit, cutting insight, and ability to use humor to hold the powers-that-be accountable to the truth.
But it's now time for someone new - and that someone is Amy Poehler.
Amy Poehler is a wonderful host, which we know from her time at the Emmys and Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update desk.
She's a brilliant feminist and role model, which we know from her book "Yes Please," and which is desperately needed in a late-night landscape currently filled only with men.
She's hilarious, which we know from everything she's ever done.
And she's available, because her delightful NBC show "Parks and Recreation" has finished filming its final season.
From Jessica Williams to Donald Glover to John "If he can get out of his HBO contract" Oliver, there are many available great choices to host The Daily Show, but there can be only one right choice.
