600, 000 dogs and cats are killed every year in animal control centers in Mexico, very often in a cruel way. We demand the implementation of more humanitarian methods which are also used in more advanced countries, such as drug overdose. We also demand the abolition of substitute substances such as chlorine, detergents or poison, which are injected into the poor animal’s veins or heart causing unimaginable pain and a prolonged agony before death.
We are aware that poverty stricken municipalities will not be able to buy the drugs we recommend because of their high market prices. These municipalities should be allowed the use of electricity and carbon dioxide under regular supervision to make sure the animals are correctly treated. To attend these cases we demand the necessary modifications to the electric equipment are made as to comply with the norms of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) to make death painless.
Finally, we compel the government to promote campaigns in order to train the people who will be operating these machines so that they can be kind to the animals and make a correct use of these machines.
Thank you for your attention.
