Prevent Canada From Banning International Dog Rescue!

A heartbreaking new policy by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) will ban the rescue and import of dogs into Canada from more than 100 countries, including Ukraine, India, Philippines, and China.

Dogs from countries considered "high risk" for rabies will be prohibited from entering Canada after September 28th. CFIA did not consult animal rescue organizations when drafting the policy!
Dog rescues regularly save animals from horrific conditions in other countries and bring them to Canada for adoption and fostering. The upcoming ban will even prevent rescuers from saving dogs from the meat trade in countries where they are bred for food.
Animal rights groups in Canada are asking the government to add an exemption for dog rescues, similar to import rules in the United States.

The United States Centers for Disease Control added an exemption to their rabies policy allowing dogs from high-risk countries as long as they meet vaccination and quarantine criteria.

Tell the CFIA to amend their policy to allow animal rescue groups to save lives by bringing adoptable animals to Canada! Sign the petition!
