Stop Slaughtering Giraffes

  • av: Animal Advocates
  • mottagare: Ministry of the Environment in South Africa, Nambia and Zimbabwe

Three sub-species of giraffe are in serious decline or endangered- the West African giraffe, Rothschild's giraffe and the reticulated giraffe. Yet, tourist trophy hunters are paying $3,800 to go and shoot giraffes with high-powered guns and bows. In South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe killing them for sport trophy hunting is legal.

Since 1988 the number of giraffes has plummeted from 140,000 to less than 80,000. Giraffes are nearing extiction and have already disappeared completely from countries like Nigeria, Mali and Angola.

Tell the governments in Africa to protect this gentle, iconic animal of Africa before it is hunted to extinction as trophy sport.
