The extiction of these unobtrusive little animals is fast approaching, the CHINESE use them in their TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE; there is NOTHING to prove that these animals have any benifit AT ALL. These people only sell these and animals like them for profit, EDUCATION is the Key to stopping this myth from wiping out the SEAHORSE, younger generations need to pass on to their elders that this is all in the mind and it has no place in the curing of disease or the smoothing of wrinkles in the skin. ACT NOW!!!
You may be aware that the worldwide Seahorse population is coming nearer to extinction on a daily basis, even as I type this these enchanting creatures are being taken from the sea for the Traditional Chinese medicine market!!
Although there is absolutely no proof that there is any benefit whatsoever when used in the treatment of ailments and afflictions, tons upon tons of these mysterious little sea animals have been taken from our oceans for hundreds of years. This has taken its toll on the population of the Seahorse and day by day the prospect of extinction comes nearer and nearer!!
Unfortunately there is no discrimination as to who is taken, juveniles, females, with and without eggs, males, pregnant or not (females pass their eggs to their partners, the males, who incubate them until they are ready to hatch) are fished. Very soon the Seahorse will only be a distant memory!
