Children's Magical Garden, a garden in the Lower East Side, where magic has been growing for the past 30 years, has been torn in two. The property owned by the gardeners, one half of which we made into GreenThumb Parks, and the other half which was illegally intruded by a developer.
On Wednesday, May 15th 2013, the developer Hoyda broke through the garden fence, dug through the center and fenced off the garden. The community is understandably devastated.
But there is hope! The gardeners are seeking a win-win solution.
First of all we want to thank you all for supporting our wishes to place more than half of our garden into Parks GreenThumb for the long-term benefit of the neighborhood.
We are now in court for "adverse possession" to regain our rightful garden land back for the generation of magical children and their families to come.
This garden is at Stanton and Norfolk on the Lower East Side, Manhattan, NYC, where underserved children of all ages need outdoor safe space to play and learn about nature. We help our community become more resilient and healthy!
