Fishing is cruelty to animals on a colossal scale, killing billions of Fish every year.
This industry has decimated our ocean ecosystems. In fact, 90 percent of large fish populations have been exterminated because of the enormous numbers of animals caught.
Scientists now warn that our oceans could be empty of fish by 2048.
Numerous studies in recent years have demonstrated that fish feel and react to pain.
Lost fishing nets " Ghost Gear" killing hundreds of thousands of whales, dolphins, sharks, seals, turtles and seabirds.
More than 650,000 marine mammals—dolphins, whales, Seals , Sea Turtles, Sea Birds are seriously injured or killed every year by the commercial fishing industry.
Mercury Levels -Researchers have found that mercury levels in tuna are 10 million times higher than in seawater, with human activities since the Industrial Revolution to blame.
Fish contains microplastics. The tiny particles of plastic float in every sea, lake and river. They are mistaken by fish for food and consumedby humans who eat fish.
Fish on factory farms are confined to overpopulated enclosures. This often results in feces- and bacteria-contaminated water.
The best thing we can do is to leave fish off our plates and switch to a compassionate vegan diet.
I urge ASEAN, European Parliament, MSC, NOAA Fisheries:
-Stop fishing
-cleanup the oceans from lost fishing gear and fishing nets
-toll free waste disposal in all ports
-clean up the Beaches
