Demand Stricter Animal Cruelty Laws and Punishments in Mississippi
Twice in as many days there have been viral videos portraying what appears to be the horrid abuse of companion animals who did nothing to deserve such pain.
Even if these people are found, charged and found guilty they will be let off with a slap on the wrist. The animal cruelty laws in MS are laughable. It's only a misdemeanor for torturing an animal!
Legislation to make animal cruelty laws stronger has been introduced regularly, but the state legislature has failed to approve these sensible bills.
Nothing happens. Why is that? Are our companion animals somehow not worthy of compassion and dignity? Is it because they cannot tell us in human words and thought how much they suffer? When compassion for those who can not defend themselves is thrust aside out of laziness it says a lot about human nature. It says a lot about us as Mississippians.
Our companion animals need more protection against sadistic people who only hurt them because they know they can. Please do something. Please ask Rep Zuber and your state representative to finally take

Many people found out today that the animal cruelty laws in MS are laughable. A misdemeanor for torture. An eye witness isn't good enough, they have to have it on video and every single inch has to be visible or it can be misconstrued as something else less horrid occurring. LEOs shamed for not acting fast enough because they can't get through all the bureaucratic red tape and nonsense hoops to jump through.
