Save Dre, a Pit Bull in Brighton, CO who has NEVER hurt anyone!

UPDATE 9/11/12: DRE IS HOME!! BRIGHTON RELEASED DRE TO HIS FAMILY TODAY. HE IS HOME WHERE HE BELONGS. DRE WINS. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!!  I will leave this petition open for a few days so people who check here can get this update. You can also follow my blog where I will share everything I can about the case in the coming week.

UPDATE 8/29/12: MARY O'BRIEN PUT THIS UPDATE ON HER FACEBOOK PAGE TODAY IN REGARDS TO THE COURT DATE YESTERDAY:
"I wanted to provide an update on Dre. We had a pretrial conference yesterday and set the trial date for early November. In the mean time, the animal law center is working with the prosecution to try to come up with a solution for Dre and us to resolve this case before trial. Dre is doing wonderfully in his foster home. The sweet little wiggler is happy, healthy and in good spirits. I want to thank you for your continued (respectful) support.

UPDATE 8/17/12: THE RESULT OF THE EMERGENCY HEARING TODAY IS THAT DRE IS BEING RELEASED FROM BRIGHTON ANIMAL CONTROL AND WILL GO TO AN UNDISCLOSED RESCUE/SHELTER WHERE HE WILL GET ALL THE PROPER CARE HE NEEDS!! HE WILL RESIDE THERE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIAL.

UPDATE 8/16/12: AS OF YESTERDAY MORNING ANIMAL CONTROL HAS ALLOWED MARY TO ONCE AGAIN GIVE DRE THE FOOD HE NEEDS TO PREVENT HIS SKIN ALLERGIES FROM ACTING UP. UPDATE 8/9/12: Dre's trial for 8/10 has been canceled. He will have a pre-trial hearing on 8/21/12. If you are local, please consider coming out and showing your support in the court room. Please continue to spread the word about Dre. He needs all the support he can get, as does his family. Please keep checking back for updates and for the time of his court case. UPDATE 8/6/12: Dre does NOT have a Facebook page. Any page using his name is doing so without authorization of Dre's Family. Please see below for what you can do to help his defense. Thank you!

UPDATE 8/1/12:  The family of Dre has retained The Animal Law Center. Time is the issue and they only have until the new court date set for August 10th. Thank you all for your support, the family has authorized this chip-in to cover legal fees. Please be patient for updates as many media requests are coming in and many suggestions on what to do and what not to do.

On July 26th, two dogs got out of their home because a child got a hold of the garage door remote and accidentally pressed the button. A family member was watching the kids and didn’t even realize what had happened and that the dogs were loose. The dogs, Dre and Machomotto, were running amuck thru the neighborhood. Dre was barking at people and apparently some lady jumped into her car...for whatever that is worth. Several people called animal control and someone called 911 reporting vicious dogs running loose. Supposedly it took 5 officers to obtain Dre, thou NOT ONE person was injured; bitten or scratched. 

Imagine having 5 strangers chasing you. 

The police/animal control released MachoMotto (not a Pit Bull), but have have quarantined Dre (Pit Bull, not even sure if he's full or mix) labeling him "vicious". 

Dre has a new court date of August 10th at 8:30am. Both a Police Officer and an Animal Control Officer are going to court to plea with the judge to have "the dog" destroyed. To clarify, his name is Dre and he is a family member who has never hurt anyone. 

Please sign this petition and show Brighton, CO that falsely labeling a dog who has hurt noone will NOT be accepted! If you live localy, please consider coming to the court and showing your support.
