Because the Conservative government of Canada is being secretive about the status of the grey seal cull, while still planning the needless slaughter of slaughter of seals to appease the Atlantic Canada fishing industry. Independent studies by Canadian experts has proven again and again that the grey seals have no negative impact whatsoever on the recovery of the cod stocks.
Stephen Harper, you know that the grey seals pose no threat to the cod recovery, yet you are still cynically using them as a target to blame for the overfishing that the Canadian government has contributed to for decades. You also think that only the East coast fisheries interests are paying attention to your planned pointless slaughter of grey seals, and that most Canadians will idly sit by and watch your government waste $3.5 million CAN. And the participants in the FRCC also know that the planned grey seal cull is a sham and a shame.
We, however, will hold you accountable. If the Canadian government doesn't withdraw the planned grey seal cull by March 1st 2013, or actually goes ahead with it;
We the Undersigned will advocate against the Conservative government, and will do whatever we can to oppose the Conservatives in the next Canadian federal election.
